Live: Sittin' In Again
Loggins & Messina
Rhino

Fans must have been starting to think it would never happen, but Loggins & Messina finally pulled off a reunion tour.

Twenty-nine years after their breakup, the artists who intended to record only one album as a duo but instead became one of the’70s’ best live acts celebrated themselves home –figuratively and, in the case of this Santa Barbara Bowl performance, literally.

The catalyst for getting back together was a benefit show in fall 2004 with Richie Furay, Rusty Young and Paul Cotton, when inclement weather forced the concert indoors and sparks between the two started flying again.

As this recording demonstrates, L&M haven’t lost any of their vocal range and still can harmonize to beat the devil; Messina’s knack for high-flying guitar solos remains intact; and the all-new backup band even managed to put their own stamp on those classic country-jazz-rock arrangements.

The DVD version has seven extra songs from the concert, plus a six-song archival set that aired in 1973 on NBC’s late-night musical showcase, “The Midnight Special.”
