Get down with your funky self, Victa.

As Bootsy Collins sings in the alternating-vocal opener: “My name is Victa, and I’m so finger-funkin’ good you can never wash off this funk debris, even if you could.”

The Flecktone bassist turns out an excellent, predominantly noninstrumental album, enlisting friends to assist him with vocal chores, including Native American singer/songwriter Bill Miller and Arrested Development founder Speech.

When he’s not cranking out top-notch funk, soul, R&B or jazz, he’s dabbling in world music. Indian musicians are featured on a couple of tunes, one of which Wooten plays a sitar bass on.

The album’s centerpiece is “Bass Tribute.” Recorded over a couple of years, some of it on portable equipment, it gathers a dozen bass players who play and/or sing in tribute to Wooten’s heroes. To really appreciate the scope of the song, go to the artist’s website and find the page with the lyrics: There’s a nice slide show of all the bass players mentioned.
