Electric guitar, Hammond B-3 and drums make up this retro trio of Jim Heath (aka Reverend Horton Heat), Tim Alexander (12 years with Asleep at the Wheel) and Todd Soesbe (Heath's next-door neighbor), respectively. And their sound is nice and full, because the organist plays the bass parts with his left hand.

Besides the sheer musicianship of Heath's side project, this mostly instrumental album boasts a multi-genre (rockabilly, Southern soul, R&B, surf, spy, lounge, blues, jazz and TV/movie themes) yet cohesive tracklist covering a who's who of composers: Lee Hazlewood, Duane Eddy, Henry Mancini, Bill Doggett, Nelson Riddle, Dominic Frontiere, Roland Kirk, Duke Ellington and Ray Charles, among others.

The only two songs with vocals are "Bim Bam Baby" (a Frank Sinatra hit by Sammy Mysels) and "Ain't That a Kick in the Head" (a Sammy Cahn-Jimmy Van Heusen number that did well for Dean Martin).

Especially noteworthy is the segue out of Soesbe's drum solo on Booker T. and the MGs' "Can't Be Still," which is smooth as silk.
